My Story:

 

I have always believed that the early years of a child’s life are among the most important—a time of wonder, discovery, relationships, and tremendous growth. It is a privilege to be part of those years and to help create an environment where children feel confident, cared for, and inspired to learn. My own journey in education began at Parkwood. After completing my undergraduate degree, I became the Program Director of Little Ones Too, the early childhood program and family-operated business that was previously housed in this building. Those early experiences with children and families sparked a lasting passion for early childhood education and shaped the educator I would become. For 12 years, I have worked as a public school Special Education teacher, supporting children with a wide range of strengths, needs, and abilities. I hold a Master of Science in Special Education and Inclusion, a Certificate of (Post) Graduate Studies in Autism, and multiple New York State Teaching Certifications.

 

Raising five children has further deepened my appreciation for the wonder of childhood and the importance of a strong, nurturing foundation. These experiences have shaped my belief that every child is capable, curious, creative, and wonderfully unique. Children learn in different ways, and meaningful learning happens when we take the time to listen, observe, follow their interests, encourage their questions, and provide opportunities to explore and discover. I believe in creating environments that invite curiosity, creativity, independence, connection, and a genuine love of learning. Just as importantly, I believe children thrive when they feel a sense of belonging and when families and educators work together.

 

My vision for Parkwood is to foster a warm, inclusive, and thoughtfully prepared community where every child is known, valued, and supported. I am honored to bring together my early childhood roots, my years in special education, and my experience as a parent to help shape the next chapter of this community. Most importantly, I want Parkwood to be a place where children belong, families feel connected, and learning is celebrated. I look forward to getting to know each child and family, building meaningful relationships, and creating beautiful memories together.
